At 801 Coffee Roasters, it is our dream to serve smooth, flavorful, craft coffee to as many people as we can.
We set out with one main goal: to never stop improving our craft. We pride ourselves on quality, fresh roasted coffee and always supporting other local businesses in Salt Lake City. From our chai concentrate to all of our in-house syrups, every ingredient is bought locally and made from scratch by us. We thank you all for enjoying our coffee and can’t wait to see you again.
Brief history of 801 Coffee Roasters
Have you ever had a dream that you couldn’t let go? A dream that would surely change the course of your life and open up doorways to all walks of life?
From my first sip of coffee, my life changed forever. In my high school years, coffee shops were my whole life. Homework, friends, and free time all revolved around coffee and local cafes. After graduation, like most young adults, I had no idea where my life would take me, I simply knew I wanted to change the world. I spent a couple years working part time jobs and going to college part time, spending my free time rock climbing and traveling, never able to decide on a major. When I was 19, I was told about a job at a local coffee shop and could not believe I hadn’t considered that before. It was perfect. I spent the following few years working with coffee, expanding my knowledge and honing my craft. Finally during conversation at my 21st birthday dinner, my brilliant mother suggested that I start a new chapter in my life, by opening my own coffee company. Knowing enough about coffee and the business behind it, this was a sure thing and I knew it. By the following weekend I had bought a truck, had a health department representative, and trademarked my business name and logo. 801 Coffee Roasters was born. I didn’t have much money at time so I had to be very careful with the whole planning process. I spent the following year at Home Depot, buying equipment online, and building the truck from the ground up, with my own two hands and help from friends and family. By June of 2017 the truck was finished. My life would never be the same.
By early August of 2017 the coffee truck had hit the streets of Salt Lake. Working alongside my brother we started by serving small local businesses in hopes of getting our name out into all local circles. We covered every inch the valley from Salt Lake City to Draper and after a short while we realized we weren’t branching out enough and needed a larger audience to promote our specialty coffee and brand. We began reaching out for local events like Shred Fest SLC, local farmers markets and charity fundraising events. While receiving more exposure and great response, we still wanted to serve our quality coffee to a larger audience. In early 2018 we expanded the roasting side of the company by supplying local restaurants and coffee shops, which really improved our marketing and consistency. By early 2020 we met a large enough demand to create our 801 website to share our beans with persons and businesses across the country. (In fact, if you are currently reading this, you are on said website and may order above by clicking on the menu tab and heading to our coffee offerings page.) My name is Alex Harrison and I own 801 Coffee Roasters. Thank you so much for making my dream a reality.
